Ujjwal’s journey has been about him discovering music from various aspects through different capacities. He started with a metal band that he was a part of in college. After the former’s dissolution, he still kept at it trying to learn and explore music. After college, he and his friends got approached to work as music directors. The duo did a few Gujarati movies and in the process, he learned the technicalities of the art of music production. He even did background score for movies. He was nominated for Best Music Director in GIFA 2016.
All this while, he kept teaching guitar and established his academy a few years before the pandemic hit. Though he has worked in different capacities, he has been constantly working on his guitar techniques. He incorporates different playing styles using a variety of techniques such as two hand tapping, natural and pinch harmonics, hybrid picking, double stops and slaps for phrasing melodic lines, and legato, string skipping Arpeggios for runs. He also teaches keyboard which he learned during the lockdown.
Ujjwal was in an all-metal band when he decided to join Meghdhanush. He brings with him a different approach on phrasing music which helps the band achieve a unique sound.
